About SETIN
The Association for Culture, Community, and Roots
A home for culture, friendship, and historical ties
Setin (a non-profit, non-political organization) was founded in 2008 by a group of Lurs residing in Gothenburg, Sweden. The name "Setin" means "pillar" or "support" in our dialect – a symbol of security and community. The association was created based on this philosophy: to be a meeting place for belonging and to preserve our cultural roots in a new environment.
Setin operates based on the UN Declaration of Human Rights. Although the association was initially formed with a focus on preserving Luri cultural heritage and history as an inseparable part of Iran's rich history, SETIN is open to all. We have no restrictions regarding ethnicity, religion, or culture, and we welcome everyone who wants to contribute to our cultural goals, regardless of where they are in the world.
Our goals and visions
We at Setin believe that culture is the most vibrant link between people. According to our statutes, we work towards the following goals:
Preserve and promote Iranian culture: Keeping traditions, literary greats, languages, arts, and authentic customs alive.
Cultural exchange: Creating constructive relationships with other cultural associations in Sweden and internationally for the exchange of ideas and experiences.
Create dynamic platforms: To offer varied educational, welfare, and sports activities to enhance our members' quality of life.
Support cultural initiatives: To encourage and support everyone working in cultural and social fields.
Kultur är den osynliga pelaren som bär vår historia och förenar våra hjärtan i en gemensam framtid.
